Serving Our Future One Birth at a Time...
It begins with you...
Your baby's birth is a very special time, hopefully one full of peace, wonder, and joy. It can also seem like a maze with so many new choices in front of you. As a home birth midwife I offer skilled, informed, loving and individualized care to all of the families I am honored to walk the journey with. My care is based on the fact that pregnancy and birth are a natural process for which our bodies were designed but I respect the birthing process and the twists and turns it may take along the way and I am grateful to have a higher level of care available through backup obstetricians in the area when needed.
MetroWest Midwifery and Doula Services are here to help you along the most joyous path of pregnancy and childbirth.

My love for birth began with my first pregnancy in 1994. I adored my midwife and the care I received. I loved being pregnant and experiencing all the changes my body was going through - even if they weren't always pleasant. I had an amazing first labor and birth experience with my body leading the way and the process unfolding naturally. I was not prepared for a relatively quick non-intervention birth since everyone told me the scary stories of how first labors are always long and miserable. This sparked my midwifery journey. I knew after my first daughters birth I would be a midwife "when I grew up." I didn't know how or when I would get there. I was caring for show horses at the time, and although I loved every minute of the craziness, I knew I would want something different when my kids were grown.
After deciding to home school and having 2 more daughters with very different birth experiences (much more medicalized) I decided it was time to think about what "I" wanted to do. That's when I began attending births as a doula and I knew that my next path was beginning. My 4th baby was born at home with a local CPM, and shortly after I enrolled in the Mass Midwives Basic Midwifery Course.
It took my 6 long years but I finished my apprenticeship and in 2016 sat for and passed the NARM CPM (Certified Professional Midwife) exam. I am currently enrolled in Aviva Romm's Herbal Medicine for Women class and I now own my own horse farm and enjoy carrying for 3 horses as well as serving all types of families in MA.

"Kim is an amazing midwife. I don't have enough words to describe her competence married with compassion and knowledge in helping our family birth our second baby. Even though I had a home birth with my first as well ( with a different practice) our experience with Kim was exactly what I needed this time. She provided excellent prenatal care, the birthing was phenomenal - it was a tough hard labor, but Kim provided us space and direction during the whole process, and the postpartum care has been amazing. I would highly recommend Kim to anyone considering her services. If you need more details of my experience, please have Kim give you my contact information."

"As a first time mom, I didn't know quite what to expect during my experience of pregnancy and birth. No matter how many books I read or the amount of advice I asked for, I knew it would be a unique journey for me and my baby. And I'm so glad Kim was the one to go through it with me. She made me feel like a partner, not a patient, answered all my questions and concerns, and helped me to stay informed about a variety of topics, which I felt was very important for me and my husband. Through developing a relationship with her and witnessing her training in action, I felt very safe in the great knowledge and wisdom she has. Thankfully, my pregnancy and labor went smoothly and Kim made sure my baby and I were doing well before she left. Her post-natal visits were just as important to me as the pre-natal because even though her main job was done, she displayed the same high level of care and attention that made me feel I was succeeding in my new role as a mother. Because of her, I am a huge proponent of using midwives and having a home birth. My experience was very peaceful and I am so grateful to Kim for that. I was sad to see her go on my last post-natal visit, but I plan to have her with me for however many babies I have in the future."

"Kim is unbelievable! She was a beacon of calm, positive energy in the midst of a very emotional pregnancy. She was very knowledgeable in her field and her belief that pregnancy is a normal part of life instead of a catastrophe waiting to happen was so refreshing. In addition to having her as my midwife, I gained a friend in her." |
